Yachmaster Offshore

On the 3rd of April I started the other part of my Captain's course. The first week of April was all theory. We reviewed the colregs and had a 2 hour test on the rules of the road on Tuesday. On Thursday, we had a 2 hour test on weather and weather patterns and on Saturday morning we had a 4 hour exam on navigation. The second week was all practical. We fine tuned our driving skills on a 50 foot power cruiser. We did man overboard drills, mooring pick ups, one engine turns, one engine dockings and position fixing by compass offshore. The wind was strong all week with 20 to 25Kn gusts to 30. The third week we did our Radar course, Short range radio course and the diesel course. The examiner evaluated us on Tuesday April 18th. We started our evaluation at 1600 and came back in to the marina at 2300. As of Tuesday I now hold a British Masters 200 tons tickets, how cool is that.
